Mexico City, Mexico
I was on a poker kick and figured I'd ride it out until the World Series of Poker in June. So my week in Mexico City was mostly online poker and street tacos.
I did make it out into the city some.
I went on an internet date with a mildly unattractive and somewhat racist Sofia. That turned into a classic Tinder one night stand.
I saw some mummies and a really cool library. I took the metro and a bus out to some ruins at the top of a hill. I went to a museum of old toys with thousands of barbies and creepy toy graffiti everywhere.
Once I went out to a mezcali that I had visited with Amistad nine months prior. I sat at the bar and got stupid drunk drinking mezcal and Modelos with a gorgeous dental student from Juarez.
It feels strange and sort of sad passing through a place a second time without the companion you had earlier. I had traveled Guatemala with Emily and then returned and spun my wheels. I had explored Mexico City with Amistad and then returned and wandered it alone.
Which made me wonder, would returning home feel the same?
