WSOP Day 17

Back at the WSOP in an $800 8-max today. I already busted like 2 orbits in set over set. So that’s unfortunate. Going to rebuy but grabbing a cappuccino first. They’re going on break in a couple minutes anyway.

WSOP $800 Deep Stack: Played great, ran shit

Golden Nugget $350 Mystery Bounty: Ran great, played shit

WSOP Day 18

The WSOP Monster Stack flight A is today. Best tournament on the schedule for mid-stakes players. 50k starting stack with 100/200 blinds at Level 1 and one hour levels makes it the deepest slowest structure outside the main event.

Sitting on a healthy 95k here on the 2nd break coming back to 300/600 blinds. Surely this is the day I make it to dinner break in a bracelet event.
Made it to my first WSOP dinner break of the summer. Nice to get that one. 176k coming back to 1000/1500. I’m at Brad Owen’s table now. He’s a YouTuber and co-owner of The Lodge card club in Austin. And he has heaps.
Kathy Liebert got moved to my table and she’s hilarious. Hasn’t stopped talking since she sat down.
Oof Kathy got it in on T52r with JTs vs A8o and lost. 🤮
Sucked out on Brad Owen AKo vs KK for a 370k pot 🔥
2nd hand before the break had a bluff picked off on a sick hero call that made no sense to me where a guy squeezed preflop A2o and hero called my big bet on the river with a pair of 2s. I had 87s double gutter on the flop that bricked.
Then last hand before the break I won a massive pot AA > KK and I’m officially a big stack now with like 550k
Maybe I can just sun run this one for 5 days and win a milly. That’s not too much to ask is it?
Well just gave 90k back 99 < AA. Heater over.
Lost another one - 3b pot where I think I had a good bluff candidate on the river but I wussed out. I suppose he probably had it.
I 3b ATo LJ vs UTG8 who is the other big stack at the table. 996r flop. I cbet small, he called. 8 turn bringing a flush draw that I the ace blocker to and he led 20k into 62k. I called. Queen flush completer river and he led 78k into 104k.
I had the nut flush blocker and the nut straight blocker. Didn’t block T9s because the suit of my ten matched a 9 on the board. But probably one of the best bluff candidates.
I just thought he probably has 66 or 88 and am I really going to torch 100bb here? I guess I’ll ask him in a minute here, maybe he’ll tell me.
About 27% of the field remaining. So the bubble will probably be a few levels into Monday. First WSOP bag of the summer! Feels good.
The guy told me he had a small flush and probably would have folded to a raise by the way. I wish I would have gone for it. Oh well.
It’s probably fine to just give up there I guess. He has just a couple combos of small flushes that were combo draws on the turn and can fold to a jam on the river. He probably has more boats than small flushes.
And since I have the ace flush blocker in my hand he probably has no bluffs for the big size. I guess I’m good with it.

WSOP Day 20

Playing the $1100 Ultimate Bounty at Venetian today.

I was cruising along until just before the first break a new old guy sat down at my table he limped 600 under the gun, a bunch more limps, I raised to 4,000 in the BB with ATs, he called, and everyone else folded.

Skipping ahead to the turn, we got it all in on QJ98 for an 83,000 pot with him holding QJ vs my made straight. Queen on the river 🤮

So that took me down to 27k (starting is 40k). Very next hand I got it in against the same guy with a small flush draw on the flop vs a pair of tens and bricked and there goes one bullet.

On break now and I’m going to rebuy.

Venetian $1100 Ultimate Bounty: 3 bullets, no bounties

WSOP Day 21

Day 2 of the WSOP Monster Stack today with 2,831 players remaining and somewhere around 1,350 making the money.

I’m a big stack with 140bb. Table draw looks good. Hopefully I will be able to scoop up some chips on the bubble and make it to another dinner break 🤞

Immediately lost half my stack KK < QQ allin pre 🤮
183k on the first break coming back to 3k/5k. Feeling alright but it’s been a pretty disastrous Day 2 so far after starting with 419k
Back up to 380k on the 2nd break 👍
There are 1450ish remaining and the bubble is 1306 so hopefully we’ll be in the money before dinner break.
1395 left now. Getting close to the bubble.
Just won a big flip AQo > 99 for a KO and up to 520k approaching the bubble 🔥
We’re just a few off the bubble and surprisingly nobody at my table is stalling
Ebony Kenny just got moved to my table. She’s a babe and ACR-sponsored pro. She has like 4.5bb though so might not be here long.
Hand for hand on the bubble now. Unless at the end of this hand there is no bubble, which is possible
We’re in the money 💰
Probably no ladders today. So goal #1 - survive to dinner break.
Jason Krpan - Ohhh… what’s for dinner?
maybe a burger
I KOed Ebony QQ > KJo and up to 755k at 5k/10k
Made it to dinner break but I gave back some on the way there. 650k coming back to 6k/12k
Doubled up a shorty A4o < K9s and down to 40bb here nearing the end of level 18
Blinds are up and I have 32bb here on level 19. We did make the first tiny ladder of $150 though. Current payout is $3,150
Got a bluff jam through vs a guy I covered and up to 35bb. Also laddered again to $3,384
Out in 680th. Called it off bad vs the chip leader with a worse top pair of kings.

WSOP Day 22

Still reeling a bit from my Monster Stack bustout last night. Lots of discussion on discord about it. Ultimately I think it can’t be a blunder but could be a mistake. It all depends on how often my opponent would be bluffing that spot, which is hard to say for sure.

Anyway back at Aria today playing another $800 daily. Already in the rebuy line.

2nd bullet got it in for 120k pot (100bb) right before the end of late reg with QQ vs 66 and he flopped a 6 and busted me. 🤮
Night shifting the Wynn $1100 turbo. Only going to fire once in this though.
I thought it might be all pros in this turbo but definitely not the case. My first table there’s lots of limping and a guy misclicked for 3x pot already.
Unfortunately I just lost a 3b pot where I was good till the river then a flush came in and I checked it back and of course dude had the flush 🤮
Called a squeeze with KJs and then called a flop bet when I flopped a jack. We then checked it down and I lost to KK and am down to a sad 10k
Guess I should have folded to the squeeze. It is a turbo though. But it’s also $1100 though. Hm.
Two lulz hands:
Raised LJ with a player gone from the table and everyone called. 6-way family pot. You don’t see that often in an $1100 tournament.
A hand later I check-jammed with T9s on a K92r flop with the backdoor flush draw and the guy who bet flop folded and showed a king.
Doubled up off one of the fish to get back above starting stack. Sadly he busted a hand later and better players are showing up.
Busted QQ < KK for 35bb preflop. And that’s a wrap for today. I’ll probably end up in this one again at some point.
Busted with queens twice today. Once way ahead and once way behind. Goddamn queens.

WSOP Day 23

The plan today is to play the $360 8-game mix tourney at Golden Nugget. Unfortunately there’s no monorail service to downtown, so I bought a bus pass for the shitshow known as the Deuce that services the strip/downtown, and once again I have been defeated by the RTC. Waiting here a half hour and no buses. Already guaranteed a late arrival. Boo.

It’s Wednesday morning and there’s no traffic on the strip. Still no bus. Sheesh.

I got the transit app which actually tracks the buses and saw that the next bus was still on the other end of the strip at least 14 minutes away and gave up and called an Uber. RTC wins again.
Off to a pretty decent start here 27k from a 20k starting stack on the first break. Tournament is a lot of fun and I feel comfortable in all the games.
It’s 2-7 triple draw, Omaha Hi-Lo, Limit Holdem, No Limit Holdem, PLO, 7 Card Stud, Stud 8, and Razz
Just misplayed a razz hand and then misclicked 7th st and accidentally raised and lost a big pot to put me back down close to starting stack. Super steamed at myself. At least we’re on to stud.
Just got a big bluff through in stud. I feel better now. I raised on 6th st with 3 spades showing vs a guy who had started with a king and been betting the whole way and now had 3 diamonds showing. I just had a pair of 7s and a gutshot, not even a flush draw. He called. I drew a meaningless 2 on 7th st and bet. He tank-folded. Nice one.
Had it up to 40k but back down to 22k here at the end of late reg. That’ll be 9 big bets in the limit games and like 18bb in the big bet games.
So not in great shape here basically the same as a max late reg. One bullet though so there’s that.
Some cracks are showing in my game especially in the stud games.
Lost two hands in stud and I’m on the ropes. Down to 4 big bets
Back up to 16k but blinds are up and still on the ropes. 5 big bets
Scooped an Omaha hand and back up to 8bb. Out of the immediate danger zone for the moment
Won a big hand in limit holdem and back up to avg with 10 big bets
Won a big hand in razz and up to 60k. 12 big bets here on level 12
Lost a heartbreaker in stud right before our table broke where he rivered a better two pair but I won a bit back and still healthy with 11 big bets
After spinning it up a bit I just doubled up a shorty in PLO KKxx < AAxx but nevermind won an omaha hand in the middle of typing this and back up to 14 big bets
Made it to the 3rd break around avg chips. Still a long ways from the money though. Clock shows 78 players remaining out of 190 and it pays 21 places.
Made it to dinner break well above avg with 12 big bets - avg is 7 big bets. 54 players remaining
Jason Krpan - The other day you came back with a good position and misfired a hero bullet or something
Hm you are using poker words but feels like mad lib level analysis
Chipping up here with 48 left. 200kish (20 big bets)
Just made a wheel in 2-7 and up to 255k which is heaps (15 big bets). Avg is 114k
On break now 2 off the money and I’m comfortably above avg with 10 big bets when we come back. We’re on stud 8 which is definitely not my best game.
Made the money! One bullet. Nice.
Just missed a bluff on the river in PLO and I’m super steamed at myself. Also not my best game. 10 big bets
3 table redraw (18 players)
Ug just got coolered in stud. Raised with a straight on 6th. He made a flush on the fucking river. Down to crumbs. 2 big bets
I survived a couple all ins with less than 1 big bet at one point and back up to 3 big bets. We’re on PLO right now and that’s 11bb. Not dead yet. 13 left
Busted in 13th. In PLO we got it in on TT3 and both had KTxx. He rivered one of his side cards to fill up 🤮
Oh well my first cash in 8 game mix. Not bad.

WSOP Day 24

Skipping the $1500 super turbo bounty at the WSOP in favor of an $800 daily at Aria. The dealers and amenities are better here and I can fire two bullets for the same investment. Probably similar field strength. All things being equal I’d rather play at Aria.

If I don’t run deep in this one tonight I’ll be deciding between a $300 nightly at MGM and the $1100 nightly at Wynn. MGM is definitely closer so probably that one. Unless I’m super fired up and want to fire bigger.

Already busted once. Overcalled BB and flopped two pair. Bet turn chunky and 3 dummy callers. Flush completed on the river and guy bet 3k into 18k and I made the crying call and lost to his baby flush.

Very next hand facing a raise and infinite dummy callers I squeezed JTs and called off when the initial raiser jammed and lost to AA. It should be a fold to a 4b jam but getting 2 to 1 on a call early in a tournament I think it’s fine.

Anyway shit start to this one.

Won a bad beat jackpot hand on bullet #2. Bad news for opponent is there is no bad beat jackpot at Aria. Quads no good. Up to 4x starting
Lost a chunk on 964 multiway holding QQ. I bet 7k into 12k, lady jammed for 20k, I called. She had 44 and held.
Just made a bad call in the BB with A7o vs a 14bb LJ jam and lost to TT and down to 23bb.
The hand immediately before the guy had lost an allin AQo < A8o and I thought he was steaming and I should call a bit wider. Goddamnit.
Probably going to bubble this one now.
Below avg with 162 left and 72 get paid.
An orbit later same guy 3b jammed KQo so who knows maybe it’s not a terrible call and he just happened to have it.
Jason Krpan - Pretty sure when it happens during an orbit it’s called a Space Jam
Well made it to the 3rd break with 94k, 23bb for level 13
Got it in 20bb AQs vs AKo and lost. Down to a single small blind. And it’s going in next hand because I’m under the gun and need to be able to win the ante.
Well I won my all in with 75o vs AKo and AJo and was up to 4bb.
Folded my BB with 74o facing a raise and a call and was down to 2bb.
Called off my 2bb from the SB with T3s vs a button open and won vs A8o and an unknown hand the BB mucked on the flop.
Back to 7bb? Not dead yet?
Doubled again after folding my BB but eventually jammed A2o CO for 9.5bb and BB called with AKo and busted me. Fuck.
And I checked an ICM chart just after busting and A2o is just a fold I think. Fuck!
Well for ChipEV A2o is a jam at least. Can’t find an exact ICM chart but I think it’s probably a fold with 18% field remaining.
I’m so steamed from busting that tourney I considered max late-regging the $3k 9-game mix bracelet event but I already max late regged a $300 nightly at MGM and even if I bust in the next 5 minutes I don’t think I’d make it over there in time. So dodged that bullet.
Well I doubled in the nightly. Opened ATo UTG8 with 15bb, BB jammed for like 13bb, I called. He had 75o? The things you see in these nightlies. I won. 28bb now
14 left in this nightly and it pays 8. Absolutely prepared to stone bubble this one. I have 16bb I think when we come back from break.
Actually 15bb. It’s a bit more grim than I thought. And I’m big blind next hand. Only 13 left though.
Down to 9.5bb here with 11 left. The hour grows nigh
Stone bubble now and I have 16bb. There is one very short stack.
I just turned down the “pay the bubble” deal even though I’m 8/9 in chips. I’m prepared to stone bubble.
Blinds are up and I have 9bb still on the bubble. The 4bb stack is in the BB next hand though. If that guy doubles I suppose I’ll have to win an all-in to cash.
In the money. Cashed another nightly. Toot toot. I’m the short stack with 9bb. There’s $5400 up top if I can find a way to spin this up. Min cash is $540
I was briefly not the short stack but he doubled up and I am once again the short stack. Still 8 left. 8.5bb
Out in 8th. Called it off good A6o < K9o for what would have been 16bb if I had won.
Jason Krpan - Short stacks, stone bubbles, and toot toots

WSOP Day 25

Playing the $2500 Triple Draw Mix bracelet event today. It will probably be my biggest buyin of the summer besides the Main Event.

Ran really hot early but gave a bunch back in level 3. Still at 41k (starting is 35k) on the first break coming back to 34 big bets for level 4 which is very deep.

Floor has moved 3 players from our table to a new table and every goddamn time it’s the weakest player that’s getting moved. This is getting tilting.
There’s a guy steaming and opening every hand now, drawing 3 and whatnot. And he’s the 4th guy to get moved off the table! This is fucking absurd. 4 times in a row it’s the guy I least want to move.
Last hand before the 2nd break I lost a big pot with a 97 dugi vs an 86 dugi and I’m down to peanuts now. That one is just a cooler. Don’t think I can break a 9 dugi to draw to a 7. Think I just have to pay that one off. Fuck!
I might be steamed enough to rebuy in this one.
Yeah 2.5 big bets for level 7 here. On the brink. Then if I bust it’s decision time.
I busted
Yeah I’m hopping back in. Screw it. I think I’m playing better than most of the guys at my table.
Jason Krpan - This tourny has dugies and steamers, and what’s neat about that is I may have just eaten a Steamed Dugi here in Saigon
Well this my first irresponsible playing above my bankroll rebuy of the summer. It was bound to happen eventually. Better cash this one I guess.
Ug cooler in 2-7, #4 < #3 and the guy with #3 drew 3 and made it on the first draw. Still above starting but lost the max on that one.
Just lost a big one with a 96 dugi vs a 95 dugi. Goddamn fucking badugi. All the way down to 17k
Jason Krpan - That’s it, you got this. My first job was at a dog track, but I was too big to be a jockey. Anywho… as the dogs were walked to the starting gate, if one stopped to take care of business, you’d see that dog get bet on and the odds increase
Hey I’m back above starting stack! Look at me! Just barely though. Still 12 big bets feels much better than 6
Catching fire in badugi now. Up to 70k
Heater continues. Over 100k now. 25 big bets
Last level of the night. I have 108k which is about avg - 18 big bets
On a downswing down to 60k - 10 big bets. I really don’t want to bust this one now…
Lost a heartbreaker in A-5, 765 < 764. Down to 41k
Lost another close one and down to 5 big bets. Fucking hell. 29k
Playing all these fine just running cold. Time to get hot again.
Lost again and back down to peanuts. Have to win the next one or I’m out
And busted in the most brutal fashion possible. All-in in badugi on the last draw with A-2-5 vs A-2-5. We both needed a heart or else it would be a chop. He pulled the fucking 4 of hearts and I was dead to one out. Which I did not hit.
Kinda like how I busted the 8-game mix I guess KTxx vs KTxx with one card to come in PLO. Except this one was for a lot more money. Damn.

WSOP Day 26

Coming off the worst day of the trip I opted for the $600 2-day at Golden Nugget today instead of the $1500 millionaire maker at WSOP. Took the bus, ate a cheap coney dog off Fremont Street, rocking the puke green zipup hoodie. It’s back to the minors for Mike.

Not much to report here so far. Starting stack on the first break. I just folded KQo to a fishy small squeeze and the guy showed AA. So got away from that one cheap.

Already fucked up one hand where I should have folded the turn and ended up paying off a set when I rivered top pair.

Got lucky though and doubled through AQo with ATs when I flopped topped two.

And have since given back a chunk of that losing two pots with small pairs to settle in at 42k (starting is 25k) at 200/400 blinds.

No crushers at this table but what does it matter if I keep paying off these guys when they flop sets. Fucking hell.

Golden Nugget $600 2-Day:

Ran really good early then coolered late blind vs blind KQo vs AA on a queen high flop

Noted 3 mistakes - 2 were calling turn bets where I should have let it go. The third was missing a bluff spot where I fell asleep at the wheel.

Overall played really well and it was a brutal cooler to bust on.

WSOP Day 27

Another tough day yesterday. Just going to try my best and keep on fighting.

Playing the Millionaire Maker at the WSOP today. Had a great first table but busted anyway. Couldn’t make a hand. Got it in with a pair and an open-ended straight draw vs an overpair on the flop for half a starting stack and bricked out.

On my way to rebuy.

Well I have a big stack now on bullet #2 with 89k at 300/500. I’ve lost pretty much every interesting hand and won 3 big pots with QQ, AA, and AA again.
And just lost a massive pot and back down to 52k. 3 way all in on the flop where I had an open-ender and flush draw vs 2 pair vs a pair plus straight draw. I made the flush on the turn and then dude filled up on the river. This game is so brutal.
200bb pot that one. I think I would have avg Day 2 chips already if he doesn’t hit a king or a ten on the river. Sheesh.
Busted 2nd to last hand of the night QQ < KK. I’m on some kind of run here.

WSOP Day 28

It’s the summer doldrums. 3 straight days of playing long days only to get coolered just before the end of the night and not make a Day 2.

The good news is the bankroll has not run dry. Elsa’s feeling optimistic singing Let It Go on the monorail PA. It’s a new sweaty day in Vegas.

Relegating myself to the puke green hoodie until I cash another tourney. Next up is the $800 daily at Aria.

I am one with the earth and sky. You’ll never see me cry.

Made it to the end of late reg on one bullet today, 50bb for level 9. Playing well today. Just before break I took down a nice pot with a flop check-raise holding a complete airball when I sensed weakness from the c-better.
Hanging out in the sportsbook watching Copa America with a couple presumed Colombians loudly making out behind me.
1st hand back from break guy rips it for 40k into 25k on 998tt I call with JJ and he has AQo no flush draw. Runs out QQ. Motherfucker.
Very next hand 3b jam AJo for 18bb and lose a flip to TT and I’m out. Goddamnit.
Met god on my way to the WSOP to hop in a nightly deep stack. At least he claimed to be. After motioning for him to talk to the hand he hexed me by calling me a n—— and a motherfucker so it’s possible my shit run will continue.
Undaunted I have entered this $400 nightly as the $300 nightly at MGM doesn’t start for another hour and I have chipped up early to 55kish from a 30k starting.
Up to 90k at the end of late reg but that’s only 30bb for Level 10 and 20 minutes later it’ll be 22bb so you know, turbo.
Had it up to 160k but just lost an allin KQs < ATo and down to 95k which is avg chips but only 16bb here on level 12.
And busted. Even got it in good A9o < KJo
Not quite the stone bubble but close enough. Out in like 50th and it paid 41. My cold streak continues.

WSOP Day 29

Switched rooms again today. Now at MGM Grand with no kitchen amenities and I broke my french press on the way over here. Forgot that glass breaks. Oops. I wonder if I can order one on DoorDash. Just thought of that 🧠

Anyway playing some $600 huge field bracelet event today. My poker buddy Al is in town and playing the same event.

Pretty slow start for me. I late regged for 30ish blinds and lost the first 2 hands I played then didn’t play a hand for the next hour. Eventually got it in good TT > 55 and back above starting now at the end of late reg but my 40k is just 26bb.

If I bust this in the next couple hours there’s a night flight of a $400 2-day at MGM that I’ll hop in.

Still stuck in the puke green hoodie till I cash another tourney.

Busted level 12 with AA in a 3-way allin vs KK and 88. KK won. Cold streak continues.
In the MGM $400 now and there’s a super loud India themed slot machine right behind me. A bit above starting stack on level 5
Just 3b QQ vs UTG8, munson cold calls for 60% of his stack with 99, flop is 9 high. For fuck sake. I won a tiny side pot, lost like 8k
I also lost my cool and started complaining about getting bad beat by terrible plays. For the record it is *never* correct to cold call a 3b in a tournament, and certainly not for 60% of your stack. Jamming is better, but in this case 99 is just a fold.
I busted in an absurd hand. Check-raised a flop SB vs UTG9 with A9s flush draw on 873tt. Guy called. Turn was a jack bringing a backdoor flush draw and I realized I’d made it an awkward size. Pot was 26k and I had 40k. Felt like I had too much to jam. So instead I bet 12k, dude jammed. I would have had starting stack if I folded, so I called it off with the flush draw and gutter hoping my overs might be good too. He ended up having 22? So I had 18 outs. But I bricked 😢
Rebought
Busted 2nd bullet QQ < KK. So that’s two nights in a row running queens into kings with a short stack.
No big blunders today that jump out at me. I guess when you don’t play to the money there are less hands and less opportunities for blunders though.
Anyway the run bad continues. Can’t continue forever.

WSOP Day 30

Took the bus down to Walmart to get a new french press and some groceries this morning. Took it out out of the box only to find that the glass is cracked! The world just doesn’t want me to make good coffee. I made a cup with it anyway and no disaster yet. I suppose eventually it will explode in a coffee disaster.

My poker buddy Chuck is 3rd in chips with 32 left in the WSOP milly maker. Might have to go sweat that final table if he makes it. I guess the final table will probably be tomorrow.

For me the next several days I’ll be firing a $600 multi-flight 2-day at Orleans where I am now and the $400 Colossus at the WSOP. Day 2 of this one is Sunday and Colossus Day 2 is Monday so they don’t conflict. I much prefer the Orleans (and pretty much all other casinos) to the WSOP where there’s nowhere good to eat and it’s $5 a banana. Also Orleans has a movie theater so there’s that to do after I bust QQ < KK or AA < KK again.

Busted first bullet KK < AA. This is getting absurd.
Just lost a disgusting one. Called a chunky turn bet with a J5 flush draw after flop checked through 4-handed then dude bet turn on KJ73. River ace goes check-check and dude has A5s no flush draw!?
Guy decided to blast off into 3 players with a complete airball, hits a 2-outer, then doesn’t even go for value. For fuck sake.
A couple hands later I flopped a gutshot straight flush draw against the same guy and bricked out. Bet flop, checked turn, folded river.
And busted again AQs < KK for 26bb BB vs BTN. Gonna hang out and get something to eat then try again in the 5pm flight.
And busted AKo < KK for 40bb. Alright one more try and then I give up for the day.
Busted bullet #4 got it in on the turn with AA on KT9T vs 96s flush draw. I had the ace blocker to the flush. He hit the flush. I don’t even know which bad beat is the worst anymore I’m losing track.
Giving up on poker for the day and heading over to the WSOP to rail Chuck in the milly maker. He’s 3rd in chips with 10 left! 7 figure payouts for 1st and 2nd in that one.

WSOP Day 31

Heading back to the Orleans today for their main event and skipping the competing $500 WSOP Salute to Warriors tournament.

This Transit app is pretty sweet but unfortunately already running bad this morning just missed the bus and the next bus is running late and about to get lapped by the bus behind it.

The buses in Vegas are actually a reasonable way to get around except for the Deuce which goes up and down the strip and is a nightmare.

Caught a punt early in this one and held. Opened KK, steaming guy snap-rips 50bb with AKs, I call, I hold. Up to 78k from a starting stack of 40k at 300/500.
Made a good hero call in a tough spot and up to 108k.
I 3b AQo BTN vs CO, BB cold called and CO overcalled.
QJT monotone flop checked through to the river. On the river I bet 4k into 10.4k, BB snap-rips 25k.
I gave it a lot of thought and didn’t think it was credible that a small flush would have checked turn giving a free card. He also shouldn’t have much AK.
So I’m basically worried about some A7 type nut flushes and a thin value jam with two pair or a set.
Also after he jammed he immediately announced “I was waiting” - claiming that he had a big hand, which usually means he doesn’t.
He had A4o with the 4 blocker to the flush. I don’t hate the jam but the cold call preflop is atrocious.
Just lost a 25k allin pot 99 < 87s 🤮
Got another KO and up to 145k at 300/600.
Opened AA CO, BTN called, SB squeezed, I just called, BTN folded.
QJ9tt flop. SB bet, too wet to slow play this one so I jammed, he called with AJo, I held.
Got another KO with AA when a lady ripped it for 3x pot on AKQQ with Q5 and I held. Up to 200k at 400/800
Nick Hammer - Mike Wilklow hold on.
Nick Hammer - are you telling me she didnt bink a Q at the end for quads against your full house?
Not this time
Lost a 3b pot I played fine then doubled up a nit KQs < AA where I think I should have folded to the jam and down to 130k at 500/1000
Still plenty but I’m pissed at myself
Had a big bluff picked off and all the way down to 73k. Maybe I won’t get bad beat today and I’ll just punt off all my chips on my own instead.
I busted in a hand I should have probably folded. Defended BB and called 3 streets with KTo on 844T8 where there were two flush draws on the turn that bricked. He had the other two tens.
Feel pretty shitty, guess I’ll get some food and go rail Chuck and his 4.5bb in the final table of the milly maker. Will probably hop in something later.
Made it to horseshoe just in time to see Chuck bust AJo < TT for 6th place in the milly maker and $289,000.
And also just in time to max late reg the $500 Salute to Heroes tournament. So waiting in a late reg line for that now.
Busted QQ < KK again
Jason Krpan - Luck was not a lady tonight
Can’t go one day without running QQ into KK. For fuck sake

WSOP Day 32

Feeling pretty good today notwithstanding the big downswing I'm on.

I made a couple mistakes yesterday in the Orleans $600 but I'm at peace with them.

The KTo hand where I called it off and busted was a good solver line up until the call on the river.

The bad bluff I made was a good solver line if I had a flush blocker and it's probably just fine because it's a spot I want to be overbluffing. And then of course to finish off the night I continued my run of big pair vs big pair coolers.

These are some of my bustouts from the week so for:

Thu: QQ < KK

Wed: AKo < KK

KK < AA

Tues: QQ < KK

AA < KK

Mon: JJ < AQo on 998

Sun: QQ < KK

Nothing to be done about that, just variance.

Anyway going back to the Orleans the try again in their main event. The $400 Colossus is going on at the WSOP but I just prefer playing anywhere else.

Goddamnit. My bus luck is still running bad. Love this app though.
Off to a hot start again today. 108k coming back to 300/600. Picked a good spot and got a bluff through, then got it all in on the turn with my opponent drawing dead straight over straight. Feels good.
I made a decently big fold with top pair in a multiway pot on the turn. Frustratingly the hand went to showdown but the dude who bet the river mucked his hand out of turn so I didn’t get to see the winning hand but my fold was for sure a good one. The winner had bet turn then check-called a big bet on river when the flush came in. Pretty sure he had two pair or a set. He said he hit the turn which threw me for a loop because the board was like KQ67 on the turn. I guess he had K7s or his flop bet was weird.
He had limped UTG8 and I had limped behind with KTs. I was worried about AK/AA but I guess not if he hit the turn.
Just sucked out on a guy for a big pot, pretty gross.
We got it in on the turn on A766 where there was a front door flush draw neither of us had, A8s vs AKo. I hit the 8 on the river and up to 177k.
Seems like it’s been a while since I was on the right side of a big suckout. Hopefully this bodes well.
Soon after that suckout a guy sat down and first hand he raised LJ, I 3b AQs on the BTN, BB who is a loose passive fish cold-called, LJ jammed with KTo (?), I rejammed and held. Up to 230k at 400/800
I’ve just been informed that I busted Phil Hellmuth’s son in that AQs > KTo hand. I already forgot what he looked like.
202k on break coming back to 1000/1500. Avg is 65k so still in great shape
Guy just opened to 3.5bb UTG7, I 3b with AA, and he folded 🙄
That’s annoying. Usually when guys split their ranges between big sizes and smaller sizes the big size means premiums. I was expecting to play a big pot there. I guess he probably had like 88 and made a tight fold.
186k at the end of late reg coming back to 2k/4k. Still above avg but not a huge stack anymore. I’m guessing we’ll play 5 more levels before bagging.
I will not bust queens into kings today. I will not bust queens into kings today.
Got a KO by flip soon after the end of dinner break TT > KJo and up to 240k at 2k/4k
Last break of this flight and I have 320k coming back to 5k/10k. 48 players remaining and 45 bag. Avg day 2 chips should be exactly 320k
The drought is over. Onto Day 2
